ShipPlanner Overview

CBS Software's PortManager™ ShipPlanner™ module is a graphical tool that allows easy planning of containers being loaded at a port.

Features such as the simple 'drag and drop' method for planning containers as well as industry standard validations and the output of reports such as Scan Plans and Bayplans, makes ShipPlanner™ an invaluable add-on to CBS Software's comprehensive PortManager™ application.

ShipPlanner Features

Planning Operation

  • Live integration with PortManager™ allows for container detail changes such as Operator, ISO Code, Port of Discharge etc., to be seen immediately. Any new containers entering the yard or entered in PortManager's™ manifest are seen immediately.
  • Current stack heights and weights are displayed along with pre-set maximums.
  • Two planning modes allow the user to view or plan the ship when containers for the current port have been discharged or are still on the ship.
  • All types of containers are catered for such as 20', 40', Flat Racks, Reefers, Out of Gauge (OOG) etc.
  • User configurable colour and pattern schemes allow operators to easily identify certain types of containers such as 20', 40', Flat Racks, Hazardous, Reefers, as well as their Port of Discharge and Commodity.
  • The "Container Grid" that displays "unplanned" containers can be filtered and sorted by numerous criteria such as Full/Empty, Size, ISO Code, Port of Discharge, Commodity, Yard Location etc. This is invaluable when planning a large ship so the user can easily distinguish the type/criteria of containers they are currently planning.
  • Whilst planning, load sequences are automatically generated (if requested) which can then be edited and printed as an order of work.
  • An unlimited "Undo/Redo" function allows any performed planning movements to be cancelled or re-instated.
  • User security for ShipPlanner™ is via PortManager's™ extensive security system, allowing access to ShipPlanner™ to be controlled on a user by user basis. This security also has the facility to only allow users to plan certain vessels. This is invaluable in a multi-stevedore scenario.

Validations

ShipPlanner™ has a number of built-in standard validations. These validations prevent planning errors from being made and include rules such as:

  • Cannot plan a 20' container on top of a 40' container. (This validation has a Tween Deck override option).
  • Out Of Gauge containers cannot be placed next to a standard container (This validation has an override option). Stack weight or heights cannot exceed preset values (These can be set to warnings only if necessary).
  • Live Reefers can only be planned in bays containing "Live" Reefer points (This validation has an override option).
  • 40' containers can only be planned in configured 40' bays.

ShipPlanner™ Documentation

ShipPlanner™ can produce printouts that are invaluable once a ship has been planned.

  • Industry standard Bayplans can be viewed or printed from within PortManager™ using the planning information gained from PortManager™ or from ShipPlanner™ itself.
  • Standard Scan Plans can be printed using colour and pattern schemes highlighting different kinds of information. For instance a Scan Plan showing hazardous containers is a necessity for the ships captain and crew.
  • A Sequence List/Order of work can be printed either for an entire ship or on a bay by bay basis.
